Queensland-based Instant Security, security alarm monitoring center has achieved Grade A1 certification to the new Australian Standard AS 2201.2 2022. Instant Security is currently only one of three security monitoring providers in Australia (and the first in Queensland) to have achieved this certification following a comprehensive audit undertaken by ASIAL.
Grade A1 certification confirms compliance with the new Australian standards AS 2201.2 2022, which replaced the previous standard issues in 2004. The new standard encompasses new requirements for cyber security controls in line with the requirements of ISO 27001, IT infrastructure, document management, ISO compliance, maintenance, building structure and staff training. With the significant changes in the electronic security industry over the last twenty years and increased vulnerability of IT infrastructure, the new AS 2201.2 2022 requirements ensure industry best practice and are essential in delivering future reliable security monitoring services. Connley Walker, an Australian security consultancy and one of the participants involved in the development of the updated standard carried out the grading assessment on behalf of ASIAL in November 2023. The superseded edition of the standard (2004) will remain valid for two years from the release of the 2022 edition allowing centres to choose between the two standards for the time being. However, from March 2024, any certification or recertification of a monitoring centre will be under the new 2022 standard.
